Write with Success is certainly a good book for students who are fairly proficient in English and who want to score better in the exam.

Sections on Directed Writing, Summary Writing and Continuous Writing follow. Lim has a very readable style and this is reflected in the model answers.
Each section starts with general advice and samples of students' work as well as the examiner's comments on what makes them bad, average or good. The book will familiarise students with the exam format and encourage them to practise writing on a regular basis.
Lim then gives several examples of model questions and answers with the difficult words and phrases used explained. For Directed Writing, Lim advises students to read the question carefully, write in well-connected paragraphs, use link words and phrases as well as interesting and vivid expressions and to add conversation if possible.
The types of Directed Writing include: narrative, descriptive, informal, and formal letters, articles and reviews, minutes and reports, processes and procedures, giving instructions, expanding from graphic information and dialogues, talks and speeches.
As a rule of thumb, refrain from using more than 2 quotes in any essay.
(One in the introductory paragraph and the other if necessary in the conclusion) The last thing you would want is get your score cancelled on account of plagiarism.
This would downplay your own voice and leaves little room for your own ideas.
It is your essay and it should be your voice that needs to be heard, not some notable/famous person’s. So, don’t cram every quote you know into the essay.
Ever since the SPM English 1322 paper was amalgamated with the Cambridge 1119 paper in 1997, the format for Paper Two was revised and it was made even more difficult.
